This weekend, the LGBTQ+ community welcomed people from all walks of life to join them in celebrating Pride, diversity, equality, human rights, and much more. It seemed that in some way or another, everyone in attendance had something to celebrate. Any negativity was quickly overshadowed by the constant wave of positivity and love exuberated throughout the festivities.
Founder of Unpolitically Correct, Patrick Lockhart, and myself (Director at Unpolitically Correct & No Hate, No Violence) had the great pleasure of speaking to a few festival-goers and joining in on the festivities. Check out a short video of the experience here.
Tolerance, acceptance, inclusivity, and authenticity are all central tenants of the LGBTQ+ community, and it certainly showed. We were reminded with every smile, handshake, and hug, that Pride is not only about celebrating members of the LGBTQ+ community, but also about sharing the message of living authentically, something actress and TV show host Ellen DeGeneres is a huge proponent of. Being an openly gay woman herself, Ellen has been an incredible role model for members of the LGBTQ+ community, and for everyone in general. Over the years, she has spoken countless times about the idea that everyone should live their most authentic life and be their most genuine selves. Check out this video from Ellen during Pride month in 2016 here.
We were so happy to show our support for the LGBTQ+ community and to be able to spread our message of “No Hate, No Violence”. The whole world could take a lesson from the strong and beautiful LGBTQ+ community, for their perseverance in the fight for acceptance, love, and peace!
